Vodacom's third-quarter service revenue rise 12.7% on Egypt growth

JOHANNESBURG, Feb 4 (Reuters) - South African mobile operator Vodacom Group VODJ.J reported on Wednesday a 12.7% rise in service revenue in the third quarter, supported by growth outside its domestic market, particularly Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Vodacom, majority-owned by Britain's Vodafone VOD.L, said group service revenue rose to 34.6 billion rand ($2.17 billion) in the three months ended on December 31 compared to the same period last year.

On a normalised basis, group service revenue jumped 13.6%, "tracking favourably against our medium-term target," Vodacom said.
