German union warns over threats to VW sites and co-determination BERLIN, June 26 (Reuters) - German union IG Metall said on Friday that media reports about Volkswagen's restructuring plans were rightly causing concern among workers and in the regions where the carmaker operates.
The union said threats to Germany's special VW law, that protects the carmaker from takeovers and guarantees the state of Lower Saxony a blocking minority, co-determination and plant locations were irresponsible. It urged the board to focus instead on competitive products and securing jobs.
