India's Vraj Iron and Steel rises as sponge iron plant commences ops

** Shares of Vraj Iron and Steel  VRAJ.NS  climb 2.6% to
228.38 rupees
    ** Co starts operations at its sponge iron plant, part of
its expansion project, in Chhattisgarh
    ** Co received environment clearance for expanding the plant
earlier this month; stock jumped 6.4% then
    ** Power equipment to start commercial production next
quarter, co says
    ** Vols at more than twice the 30-day avg of 157,000 shares
    ** Including session gains, stock trims losses since listing
on July 3 to 9.4%
