** Shares of drug developer Wave Life Sciences WVE.O rise 1.1% to $6.64 after the bell

** WVE says its experimental obesity treatment, WVE-007, reduced Activin E protein levels significantly in a preclinical study, leading to fat loss while preserving muscle mass

** WVE-007 lowers inflammation of adipose tissue, which can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease, the drug developer says

** Company says on track to share early stage study data in H2 2025

** As of last close, stock down 46.9% YTD
