Australian tech stocks hit 5-1/2-month high, tracking US peers

** Australian tech sub-index  .AXIJ  rises as much as 1.8%
to its highest level since Aug. 24 
    ** Wall Street gained overnight with the benchmark S&P 500
ending at a record high close on positive earnings  .N 
    ** Sector majors Xero  XRO.AX  and WiseTech Global  WTC.AX 
climb 1.6% and 3.5%, respectively
    ** Semiconductor technology co Weebit Nano  WBT.AX  climbs
as much as 3.7% to a one-month high
    ** AXIJ has risen 1.6% this year, as of last close
