China's internet regulator issues warnings to Kuaishou, Weibo over content violations

BEIJING, Sept 20 (Reuters) - China's internet regulator said on Saturday it has directed its Beijing branch to impose disciplinary measures on livestreaming platform Kuaishou Technology 1024.HK and social media company Weibo 9898.HK.

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said in statement the actions to be taken include summoning company representatives, issuing official warnings, and ordering rectifications within a specified time frame.

The CAC said both platforms failed to fulfill their core responsibility of content management, citing the frequent appearance of problematic entries on their main trending lists, particularly those hyping celebrity gossip and trivial personal updates.
