SQM and Wesfarmers make final investment decision on Mt Holland lithium expansion project July 21 (Reuters) - Chilean lithium miner SQM and Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers said on Tuesday they have made a final investment decision for their Mt. Holland lithium expansion project in Australia.
SQM's share of capital expenditure for the project is estimated at $450 million to $500 million in nominal terms, the company said in a statement. A definitive feasibility study showed the expansion will increase nameplate spodumene concentrate production from about 380,000 metric tons per year to 760,000 metric tons of lithium concentrate.
