** U.S. shares of Canada-based Westport Fuel Systems Inc
 WPRT.TO ,  WPRT.O  gain 8.9% to $1.10 premarket
    ** Maker of alternative energy systems used by automotives
says it has been awarded a program to develop and supply
liquefied natural gas (LNG) systems for a number of vehicle
applications for a global OEM
    ** Forecasts deal will generate 38 mln euros ($38.03 mln) in

    ** Expects production to begin in Q4 2023
    ** Stock down ~57% YTD through last close
