TRANSACTION IN OWN SECURITIES
 
 
 
Whitbread PLC ("Whitbread") announces today that it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares of 76 122/153 pence each on the London Stock Exchange and Multilateral Trading Facilities from Morgan Stanley & Co. International Plc. Such purchase was effected pursuant to instructions issued by Whitbread on 17 January 2019, as announced on the same day:

Whitbread initially intends to hold the purchased shares as treasury shares, but may cancel them in the due course.
 
Since 17 January 2019, Whitbread has purchased 2,355,018 shares at a cost (including dealing and associated costs) of £114,955,361.44.
 
Following settlement of the above transaction, Whitbread will hold 14,486,524 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 195,888,483 ordinary shares in issue.
