The following factors could affect Italian markets on Monday.

    ECONOMY
    Italy's League leader Matteo Salvini told La Stampa in an
interview published on Sunday he would tax Amazon  ANZN.O  and
other players "with giant revenues which however pay
ridiculously low taxes" in order to find funds for Italy's
younger generations. 
         
    CORONAVIRUS 
    Italy reported 72 coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday, down
from 125 the day before, the health ministry said, while the
daily tally of new infections fell to 3,995 from 4,717.

    DEBT
    Italy's Treasury said on Friday it would offer up to 4.75
bln euros in short-term BTP bond and inflation-linked BTP at

    Treasury announces sale of 6-month BOT bills, with relative
amounts to be auctioned on May 27.
    
    COMPANIES
    Eighteen FTSE MIB's stocks will go ex-dividend on Monday,
leading the Milan Stock Exchange's main index to a technical
0.89% drop at the opening, index provider FTSE Russell said on
Friday. 
    
    UNICREDIT  CRDI.MI 
    The bank has decided to skip the payment of coupons on some
financial instruments, in a U-turn that sent the bond in
question into a tailspin and hurt some other debt sold by

    UniCredit may consider buying insurer Generali  GASI.MI ,
Milano Finanza reported on Saturday citing financial analysts.
The newspaper  said that in this scenario Mediobanca  MDBI.MI 
could swap its stake in the insurance company for Banca Generali
 BGN.MI .
    
    BANCA CARIGE  CRGI.MI  
    The president of Italy's Depositor Protection Fund (FITD),
the biggest investors in Carige, said in an interview on
Saturday he is confident that the lender could be part of one of
the merger deals that are taking shape in the country. FITD head
Salvatore Maccarone told daily Repubblica that he expected some
expressions of interest for the bank in June, but added a sale
would likely be finalised only next year.
    
    NEXI  NEXII.MI 
    The Italian payments group is in talks with Alpha Bank to
take a stake in the Greek bank's retailers payment business,

    BANCA IFIS  IF.MI  
    The lender said on Sunday it had purchased at a symbolic
price of 1 euro ($1.22) a unit of specialist lender Aigis Banca,
which was being liquidated following its exposure to Greensill

    ENI  ENI.MI 
    The energy group is ready to launch other business
combinations in Asia and in the Middle East, Milano Finanza
reported on Saturday, adding it could team up with France's
Total  TOTF.PA  to do so.  
    
    A2A  A2.MI 
    Mergers among utilities based in Lombardy have been very
important, but they have required resources and a long time to
be finalised, A2A CEO Renato Mazzoncini told Il Sole 24 Ore on
Saturday, adding howevr that it wasn't worthwhile. 
        
    ERG  ERG.MI 
    The group has acquired its first solar power assets outside
Italy, agreeing to buy 80 megawatts of green capacity in France
for 45 million euros ($55 million) as part of its plan to become

    EDISON  EDNn.MI  
    S&P lifted Edison's credit rating to BBB from BBB-, the

    ATLANTIA  ATL.MI , ALITALIA (not listed)
    The state-owned Italian airline that will replace bankrupt
Alitalia will only start flying in September, missing the peak
summer holiday season, daily Corriere della Sera reported on

    Rome's airport Fiumicino, which is managed by infrastructure
group Atlantia, is Alitalia's hub.
    Talks over a possible partnership continue with U.S. Delta
Airlines  DAL.N , Air France-KLM  AIRF.PA  and Virgin Atlantic
on one side and Lufthansa  LHAG.DE  on the other, Corriere della
Sera reported on Sunday, adding that political sources say that
the Delta-AirFrance-KLM side is prevailing.  
    An informal go-ahead by Brussels to ITA, the new airline, is
expected by the next week, Il Messaggero reported on Sunday,
adding the new carrier will have 4,500-5,000 staff and 55-60
aircraft. Unlike initially expected, ITA will keep Alitalia's
slots in Milan's Linate airport, though will have to sacrifice
some slots overall, the daily said. ITA CEO FAbio Lazzerini aims
to sign a commercial partnership by the end of June hence talks
with Lufthansa and Delta Airlines have intensified, it added.  
    
    ASTM  ATMI.MI 
    NAF2, which has launched a takeover bid on ASTM, said on
Friday it owned over 90% of the motorway group's shares after
shareholders tendered 79.3% of the shares targeted by the offer.

investor ends on Monday.
