DECEMBER 2022 TRAFFIC AND CO2 EMISSION STATISTICS

 

WIZZ AIR CARRIED 4.2 MILLION PASSENGERS, AN INCREASE OF 58% YEAR-ON-YEAR

Geneva, 3 January 2023: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air"), the fastest
growing and one of the most sustainable European airlines, today announces
passenger and CO(2) emission statistics for December 2022.

 

In December 2022, Wizz Air carried 4,180,310 passengers, representing a 58.4%
increase compared to December 2021, at a load factor of 84.5%.

 

Wizz Air continued to grow its network and improve its customer offering in
December, including:

 

·      Wizz Air launched new routes from Italy to Saudi Arabia,
including Milan to Jeddah and Rome to Riyadh. It also commenced flying from
Austria to Saudi Arabia, connecting Vienna to both Jeddah and Riyadh.

·      Wizz Air has announced further expansion at following bases: (i)
two additional A321neo aircraft at Rome Fiumicino, Italy bringing the total
number of aircraft to nine, (ii) one additional A321neo aircraft at Vienna,
Austria for a total of six aircraft, (iii) one additional A321neo aircraft at
Warsaw, Poland for a total of ten aircraft, (iv) one additional A321neo
aircraft at Tirana, Albania for a total of ten aircraft, (v) one additional
A321neo aircraft at Kutaisi, Georgia for a total of three aircraft and (vi)
one additional A321ceo aircraft at Belgrade, Serbia for a total of four
aircraft. All additional aircraft will operate new routes and increased
frequencies from 2023.

·      Wizz Air celebrated opening of its Suceava, Romania base with
first of the two aircraft and the arrival of the fourth aircraft, an A321neo,
to Iasi base in Romania. At the same time, Wizz Air also celebrated the
arrival of seventh A321neo aircraft to its base in Sofia, Bulgaria. With this
arrival Wizz Air's fleet in Bulgaria reaches the total of ten aircraft.

·      Wizz Air continuously operates amongst the lowest CO(2) emissions
per passenger/km amongst all competitor airlines, with 55.2 grams per
passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 31 December 2022. For the month of
December CO(2) emissions were 55.3 grams per passenger/km (13.3% lower
compared to same month last year).
