Senegal's state-owned pipeline operater RGS seeks investors for 530 million Euro expansion CAPE TOWN, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Senegal's state-owned pipeline operator Reseau Gazier du Senegal wants investors to help finance an extra €530 million ($594 million) network expansion to distribute natural gas to several power stations by 2029, its chief executive told Reuters on Thursday.
Liquefied Natural Gas exporter Senegal wants its offshore gas projects to help power its economy, reduce dependence on expensive refined fuels and help expand electricity access across the country
In September RGS S.A. started with the first €275 million leg of a planned 400 km (248.6 miles) underground pipeline distribution network, connecting offshore GTA gas field to a 250 megawatt gas-fired power plant in the country's north
Further phased upgrades are planned to connect just over 300 km to several other gas-fired power plants from its GTA BP.L, Yakaar-Teranga and Sangomar WDS.AX gas fields which will require an additional €530 million, RGS chief executive Pape Momar Lo said
Key technical studies have been completed, he said, with government seeking project finance partnerships to develop the network, covering around 15% of equity financing
The new pipelines would be offered a 15-year renewable concession and be guaranteed a tariff structure covering capital and operational expenses, as well as a 20% internal rate of return, he added
