Oct 29 (Reuters) - Australian grocer Woolworths WOW.AX reported a 2.7% rise in first-quarter sales on Wednesday as continued efforts to attract value-conscious customers through lower prices and promotional activity drove solid growth in its local food business.
For the quarter ended October 5, the firm reported group sales of A$18.48 billion ($12.01 billion), higher than A$18.0 billion a year earlier.
That compares with Visible Alpha estimate of A$17.91 billion.
