April 30 (Reuters) - Australia's Woolworths WOW.AX reported a 4.5% rise in third-quarter sales on Thursday, beating market expectations, as extended improved trading momentum drove a stronger growth in its core Australian Food business.
The country's biggest grocer posted group sales of A$18.10 billion ($12.89 billion) for the 13 weeks ended April 5, compared with A$17.31 billion a year earlier. That was above the Visible Alpha consensus of A$17.98 billion.
