Jan 14 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futuresFFIc1 up 0.13%.
* PRUDENTIAL: Prudential PRU.L named Douglas Flint as its new chair, succeeding Shriti Vadera who is stepping down in May.
* RIO TINTO: Rio Tinto RIO.AX, RIO.L has engaged JPMorgan JPM.N and two other advisers on its potential acquisition of Glencore GLEN.L, a source with knowledge of the situation told Reuters.
* BP: Workers at BP's BP.L refinery in Whiting, Indiana, are in contract negotiations with the British oil major, which has proposed changes including job cuts at the 440,000-barrel-per-day facility, the United Steelworkers union said.
* ASTRAZENECA: AstraZeneca AZN.L has agreed to buy Boston-based Modella AI, the companies said.
* WORKSPACE: Boaz Weinstein's Saba Capital, which holds about 13.5% stake in Workspace WKP.L, sent a letter urging the company to pursue a managed wind-down.
* BUSINESS CONFIDENCE: British businesses turned their most pessimistic in three years at the end of 2025, and their mood worsened after finance minister Rachel Reeves' budget at the end of November, a survey showed.
