U.S. stocks opened sharply lower on Friday, hit by fears that
President Donald Trump's shock threat of tariffs on Mexico could
prove the trigger that pushes the world's largest economy into
recession.  .N 
    At 9:38 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was
down 1.11 percent at 24,890.96. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 1.12
percent at 2,757.73 and the Nasdaq Composite  .IXIC  was down
1.22 percent at 7,475.087.
