** U.S.-listed shares of drug developer XORTX Therapeutics
Inc  XRTX.O  rise 13.6% to $0.67 premarket
    ** Co says it has submitted an "orphan drug" status request
to U.S. FDA for its experimental kidney disease therapy
    ** The drug candidate, XRx-008, is being developed to treat 
autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), XRTX  
    ** ADPKD is characterized by expansion of fluid-filled cysts
in the kidneys
    ** The FDA awards "orphan drug" designation to drugs that
treat rare conditions and are protected through a series of
government incentives once they reach the market
    ** Stock fell ~62% over the past 12 months
