Yara reports Q4 core profit slightly below market estimates (updated)

(Adds CEO quote in paragraph 3, context in paragraph 4,
dividend in paragraph 5)
Feb 7 (Reuters) - Yara International YAR.OL , one of
the world's largest producers of fertilizers, reported fourth
quarter adjusted core earnings slightly below market
expectations on Friday, impacted by lower nitrogen upgrading
margins.
Quarterly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortisation (EBITDA), excluding special items, were $519
million. That was a touch below analysts' average estimate of
$523 million in a company-provided poll.
"We're also progressing well on our cost and capex reduction
program, with a USD 90 million reduction achieved in 2024," CEO
Svein Tore Holsether said in a statement.
The Norwegian group initiated a $150 million cost reduction
and $150 million capex reduction program in July to improve its
financial performance and shareholder returns.
Yara will propose a dividend of 5 Norwegian crowns per share
to be paid for 2024, it added.
($1 = 11.2075 Norwegian crowns)
