UPDATE 1-Argentina's YPF signs $405 million asset sales as shale pivot deepens Adds details throughout
Aug 5 (Reuters) - Argentine energy company YPF YPFDm.BA said on Wednesday it had agreed to sell two conventional oil and gas asset clusters in Mendoza and La Pampa for a combined $405 million, as it pushes ahead with a portfolio overhaul aimed at shifting capital toward unconventional development.
In separate filings, YPF said it would sell its stake in the Mendoza cluster, which is operated by Pluspetrol, to San Benito Upstream for $205 million, and its stake in the Chachahuen cluster to Energia Mendocina and Compania Andina de Petroleo y Gas for $200 million.
The Mendoza cluster produced about 7,000 barrels per day of oil and 0.04 million cubic meters per day of natural gas in the second quarter, YPF said. YPF's share of the Chachahuen cluster's output in the second quarter came in at about 10,000 barrels per day of oil and 0.03 million cubic meters per day of gas.
YPF had already flagged Chachahuen and other conventional assets for divestment last year as it works to slim down mature conventional operations and concentrate spending on Vaca Muerta, the giant shale formation.
