POLITICS

The Italian government will defend its golden powers aimed at shielding strategic assets, its economy minister said on Friday, as Brussels prepares to challenge the legislation.

DEBT

Credit ratings agency S&P Global said it had reviewed Italy and left its sovereign debt rating unchanged at BBB+ with a stable outlook.

COMPANIES

(*) STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

Some of the world's biggest carmakers, Stellantis included, are facing a pivotal trial at London's High Court on Monday, with lawyers representing 1.6 million claimants accusing them of cheating diesel emissions tests, a decade on from Volkswagen's 'dieselgate' scandal.

LEONARDO LDOF.MI

The military-vehicle joint venture between the Italian defence group and Germany's Rheinmetall has won a 700 million euro order from the Italian army for Lynx wheeled armoured combat vehicles, Il Fatto Quotidiano reported on Sunday.

(*) INTERPUMP ITPG.MI

The Italian high-pressure pump maker could beat analyst expectations on gross operating margin this year, CEO Fulvio Montipo said in an interview with Monday's Corriere Economia, adding he expects to make a couple of acquisitions before year-end. Montipo also said U.S. tariffs had so far a limited impact on business.

(*) DIASORIN DIAS.MI, RECORDATI RECI.MI

The Italian pharmaceutical industry expects to close 2025 with production nearing 70 billion euros and exports at more than 65 billion euros, both up by 20% year-on-year, Marcello Cattani, president of industry group Farmindustria, said in an interview with La Stampa published on Monday.

U.S. tariffs of 15% have had so far no impact on business and will mostly be passed on to U.S. consumers, Cattani said, adding that a hike in tariffs to 100% would deprive the U.S. of vital medicines and vaccines.

BANKS

Italian lenders face temporarily higher taxes on profits as the government is leaning towards extending a measure adopted last year that forced lenders to spread tax credits stemming from past losses over a longer period of time.

The government intends to collect resources to fund its 2026-2028 budget by again changing the terms allowing banks to use deferred tax assets (DTAs) to lower their tax bills, Forza Italia party senator Maurizio Gasparri said in a statement.

ENI ENI.MI

The Italian major said on Friday it had finalized with Argentina's YPF a engineering agreement on a Vaca Muerta liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.

FASHION

Diego Della Valle, founder and chairman of the Italian luxury group Tod's, said on Friday that investigations into Italy's fashion supply chain risk damaging the country's global reputation for top brands and quality products.
