Zabka second-quarter results due August 5
Net profit seen at 183 mln zlotys
GDANSK, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Polish convenience store chain Zabka ZAB.WA is expected to report a second-quarter net profit of 183 million zlotys ($49 million), mainly due to an enlarged store base and higher margins on ready meals, a Reuters poll showed on Monday.
Zabka's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization are expected to rise 15% year-on-year to 1.02 billion zlotys, supported by cost efficiencies, according to the average forecast of analysts from four banks and brokerages.
Sales are forecast to rise 14% year-on-year, potentially held back by unseasonably cold weather in May that could have resulted in lower footfall and poorer sales of impulse products.
The retailer is expected to have opened a net 238 stores in the quarter, bringing its store count to 11,716, a 10% increase from a year earlier.
