U.S. stocks slumped on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial
Average erasing its gains for the year, as markets were rattled
by a sharp escalation of the trade dispute between the United
States and China.  .N 
    At 11:17 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI 
was down 1.38 percent at 24,642.29. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down
0.76 percent at 2,752.73 and the Nasdaq Composite  .IXIC  was
down 0.97 percent at 7,671.875.
