Mello 2019....All you need to know !
Mello is back with double the number of investor events in May. We are returning to the luxurious surroundings at the Clayton Conference Centre in Chiswick, London W4 and running a new event on the first day....Wednesday 15th May which is called the Trusts and Funds show..
http://melloevents.com/trusts-funds/
This new event has a fabulous line up of speakers and quite a few panel sessions with fund managers and investors dedicated to small company investing and the strategies around it so very worthwhile attending.
Then the following two days on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th May are all about Mello2019 and the opportunity to meet up to 60 small to medium size growth companies with good stock rankings along with 15 top quality Keynote speakers, and about eight educational seminars and panel sessions. Nearly all the companies will be doing 35 minute presentations with Q&A and we are expecting over 1000 attendees so plenty of fellow investors and Stockopedia users to network with.
Paul Scott and Graham Neary will also be doing a live show and running through the daily results and updates and there will even be an investor voted Awards show on the Thursday evening. Stockopedia will be there to answer questions and do a number of presentations to help subscribers make the most of the best data available to investors.
Why not come and join us for a couple of quality days with like minded investors ? Everything you need to know is here....http://melloevents.com/event/
The tickets are available to buy for just one day or both days which works out better value and the extreme value proposition is that you can add the Mello Trusts and Funds event day for just a tenner....bargain !
If you have been to any Mello events before then you are instantly adopted as part of the Mello community and your loyalty is rewarded by receiving an invitation to buy early bird tickets to each event at half price. You will have received that email with a discount code which went out last week.
For any Stockopedia readers who would like to attend Mello2019 as highlighted by Paul in his SCVR and have never been before...there is a 40% discount to ticket prices if you enter the following code in the box when ordering....Stocko40
Looking forward to seeing you all there...
David

Yes we are returning to Chiswick after really careful consideration as we actually wanted to go north to Derby again but Brexit issues and investor appetite following our survey results in August meant playing safe with a London venue. We will be back to a provincial location in 2020 when all the dust settles, I promise.
The Early Bird tickets actually ran out over the weekend & apologies to those who had problems yesterday. As a gesture we've added 50 more today https://melloevents.com/event/ MelloLondon is in The Clayton, Chiswick on Tues 12th & Wed 13th November. We will have excellent speakers including Ed Croft, Paul Scott and Graham Neary plus panel sessions & round table discussions. About 65 companies presenting and exhibiting. To benefit from 50% off your ticket enter code ML1950 but be quick.
The Stockopedia team will be joining us
See you all there
David
Hello
Just checking to see if the dates for Derby are available?
Chiswick is the autumn venue: https://twitter.com/Carmensfella/status/1177491956856840192
Hi David ,
Re Mello 2019 keynote speakers and panel sessions
On the 6th of June said
''It will only be a couple of more days.
Do you have any idea when the paid content videos will be available as I am keen to see the them as this was the basis I bought a one day ticket .
Thank again for all the good work.
Tony
Okay thanks.
It will only be a couple of more days. PI World needed to get the company videos done first as they are more time sensitive
Next up the Mello team are looking to run a one day educational event in early September with a theme of 'Accounting made simple' with Paul Scott, Graham Neary, Steve Clapham, Leon Boros & other workshop hosts featuring companies with management that have driven steady investment returns over the long term.
We'll invite entrepreneurial directors like Jonathan Lander VLE & David Cicurel JDG to tell us what they look for in the accounts of companies they acquire & reject...However not expecting to have very many full company presentations as these are educational workshop type sessions. Thoughts?
What kind of educational workshops would you like based around this accounts/balance sheet tutorial?
We probably need to charge £195 for the day to include a lunch & drinks with usual discounts for Mello regulars. Does this sound worthwhile at a venue probably just north of London? Do you prefer midweek or a Saturday ?
All comments and suggestions gratefully received
David
David ,
Great idea I could I do with learning my way around balance sheets etc .
Midweek or Saturday no fussed either way , not so keen on London through traffic and parking can be a nightmare .
Not sure if you have thought of Milton Keynes (good transport links and great parking ).
Also do you have any idea when the videos from the recent MELLO will be available I paid for a one day ticket in order to access them .
Sorry if I seem impatient just keen to see the content that's all !!
Thanks for all your work very much appreciated
Tony
Tony,
Some of the Mello videos are already on PI World.

My vote for Derby.
Thank you for the Chiswick event, David. Although I only managed 1 day, it was very useful.
Derby and Chiswick are both OK
Derby works for me too. Or if Derby isn't feasible for any reason, somewhere else outside of London and the South East.
Derby is nice and central and has good railway links
Derby fine
Happy with Derby !!!
Nothing confirmed yet but more likely to be in Derby than anywhere else....what do folks here think ?
Great event David,
Thank you and the Mello team. I thought that the 'funds' day worked really well. Great speakers, all of those I saw were impressive....Paul Marriage, John Baron, Richard Bernstein and Stephen English to name a few.
Looking forward to the November event which I assume will be at Derby?
Those who bought a ticket whether they attended or not will be given access to the videos and they are currently being worked on to sync slides and edit where necessary to make ready to view. Some company videos will also be available on the PI World website but certainly not the Keynote speakers and panel sessions etc.
Hi David,
Will the videos be available to all to watch, even if not attended , were they in PI last time?
Thanks John
David ,
I am sorry I missed the event however I bought a ticket on the basis I could watch the videos , I know it is early days but do you know (roughly ) when the videos of the seminars will be available ?
Looking forward to attending November !!
Tony
To build an event you need investors to buy tickets early (early bird) and then allow the rest to buy at their leisure. This works perfectly when partners like Stockopedia and ShareScope are fully involved promoting the events but neither of them were and did not mailshot their subscribers or have stands as they are committed to upgrading their systems and all the workforce and effort needed for that. I fully understand that is their priority. Separately we were let down by Investors Chronicle.
That left us with 80 unsold Stockopedia & ShareScope tickets and MoneyWeek stepped in as the only previously untapped quality outlet to get the numbers we needed at the last minute with two weeks to go....
If I do not get the numbers we need then the speakers and companies get hacked off and we do not have the quality event that you are all very happy with.
If you do not think the event is worth what you paid then that is a completely different argument. If people do not buy discounted tickets early enough next time then I will reserve the right to increase prices rather than reduce them but attracting a few new investors is also important if you want Mello to be vibrant.
David,
Great event last week, thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you.
BUT I'll be annoyed next time if I buy tickets early using the Stocko discount code only to find later on that you are offering better discounts through Money Week because you think their readers are a better fit for you.
I think you need to get your discount codes and pricing aligned in advance next time and stick to them. Otherwise we'll all be playing chicken with you waiting till the last and best discounts to book.
John
The Mello team hope you all enjoyed the events over the three days last week and that there was something that interested or engaged you all.
For those wanting to attend another Mello event do stay tuned to the website www.melloevents.com and keep the dates from 26th to 28th November free in your diaries as that will most likely be the next event date...
David
David - Are the Nov dates above for Derby?
Agree about the Mello discount pricing - Somewhat erratic.
Hello David
Thanks very much for all the hard work that you put in, really appreciated, do you know when you will be able to confirm the dates 26th to 28th November?
Thanks
Only a day to go before the Mello Trusts and Funds event and if any of you would like a last minute £10 ticket just use the code VIP10 in the discount box. https://melloevents.com/trusts-funds/

The copy/paste works fine thanks. Only 8 companies with StockRanks above 80...
In any case there are a few I would like to see so I'll be there on the Thursday.
Here is a list of tickers for the Mello event. I cannot guarantee the accuracy of this, as I just input the names off the Mello website into a Stocko portfolio. I don't know how to share that, but pasting the tickers should allow anyone to rapidly recreate a portfolio.

It is going to be a very busy two days. Still a few tickets left http://melloevents.com/event/
The first keynote speaker is Peter from the Wellcome Trust at 9.10am if that helps. There will be top quality speakers all day and six panel sessions as a minimum....we are going to trial a few new sessions at Mello2019 too
The full programme should be available for both events in the next couple of days but it is always liable to minor changes.
Just to mention that if any of you would like to come along to the one day Trusts and Funds event on Wednesday 15th May http://melloevents.com/trusts-funds/ then you can obtain tickets for that day on its own for just £10 by adding the code VIP10 when purchasing a ticket.
We have a fabulous line up of speakers and quite a few panel sessions with fund managers and investors dedicated to small company investing and the strategies around it so very worthwhile attending.
Looking forward to seeing some of you there....
David
Please could you confirm when will the schedule be available for the 15th ?
Hopefully the best material is not on at 9:00 am, otherwise I shall need to extend the hotel booking to a third night.
Another handful of companies have joined us or are about to
Zotefoams
Inspired Energy
Emmerson
Midatech Pharma
Coral Products
Crystal Amber
We do have a Stockopedia directory which is handed out alongside the show programme at every Mello event which you will find useful

Character Group
Circle Property
MOD Resources

Pelatro
Angling Direct
Simec Atlantis
Trackwise
RA International
Castleton Technology
Some very interesting companies.
A ready made Stockopedia portfolio with all the Mello exhibitors in it would be very helpful in aiding us in researching & prioritizing which presentations to see.
Failing that, I will do my own, but I don't think there is a mechanism to share it.
Excellent thanks
Nothing planned as yet for the Summer but Derby in November from 26th to 28th has been provisionally booked so stay tuned for more on that.
Hello,
I attended Mello last year in Derby, it was excellent.
Do you have any Mello Events planned for September?
Thanks
Sorry to hear you will not be with us....We will be filming nearly all the keynote speakers and some of the panel sessions and about 30% of the presentations.....Anyone who has bought a ticket even if they do not attend will naturally receive a link to watch them all at their leisure. So even if you just buy a one day ticket that qualifies.
Use the Stocko40 or ShareSoc discount code.
Stephen will be speaking on the Thursday afternoon at Mello2019
I currently have him.down to speak at 2pm with the interesting title of his keynote being...... 'swiss army knife investing'
The programme can change slightly but it will definitely be Thursday for that one. D
David ,
Unfortunately won't be able to make this one , will you be making videos available of the main speakers and if so do you have an idea of the costs to watch these videos ?
David,
Which day is Stephen English presenting please?

K3 are presenting twice on the Thursday

At this stage there are still companies signing up so difficult to set times in a schedule for the programme. If you say which companies you want to see then I can tell you which day they are exhibiting and presenting. It is currently running at 56% of companies coming on Thursday compared to 44% on Friday
David,
For me it's more a case of which speakers on which days? Of those listed K3 of interest too, so would useful to know which day they are presenting. Ian
Firstly as the founder of Mello I can honestly say that these are very inclusive, investor friendly, community minded events. We offer Twitter followers a meeting point as they know each other online but not usually in the flesh and we are happy to offer the same for Stockopedia members.
It has to be said that many already know each other from previous Mello evenings/events and also by attending the Stockopedia Stockslam evening and we hold one of those at Mello too. Stockopedia come to nearly every Mello event and I am sure they will be there this year. They also won an Award at our event last year and will no doubt hope to win again in 2019
http://melloevents.com/awards/
By attending a Mello event you will receive a Stockopedia directory of the exhibiting companies and I am pleased to say that the vast majority have good Stockranks. We only charge the companies a small amount to come to Mello as we believe in everyone sharing the cost of the event and that way the cost never puts off good companies that tend to be small and may only have small budgets.
It will not surprise you that companies that raise money regularly in the market & for speculative investment in mines/biotech/resources etc always have big budgets to pay for stands and get in front of investors. That is not what we want
Why not come and join us for a couple of quality days with like minded investors ? Everything you need to know is here....http://melloevents.com/event/ ...there is a 40% discount to ticket prices if you enter the following code in the box when ordering....Stocko40
I am sure others will back me up in saying how valuable these events can be so do not be put off by the fact they are not free
David
By far, the best value for money UK Stocks related event I have ever attended (been to 2 so far and will be at this one too).
(Mostly) quality companies, excellent industry speakers who are freely accessible before and after and a great all round social occasion too.
Highly recommended.
Agree with Matylda - An excellent and reasonably priced event.
Its unlikely I can attend both days, so am looking at which day, would best suit. When are we likely to see the itinerary for each day please, so I know which to book?
This looks an interesting event with a large number of better than average companies attending. Will Stockopedia be there ? Do Stockopedia investors attending have a meet up point ?
Two more companies coming for their first appearance have signed up this week Tavistock Investments & John Lewis of Hungerford and I doubt many of you know those so do come and meet them. Ticket sales are now 8% ahead of Mello2018 so make sure you have got yours
Lots more companies signing up with Malvern International, Smartspace, Empressaria, Avation and eServ Global being the latest. We now expect to have nearly 70 companies presenting and exhibiting on 16th and 17th May so I totally agree with Wimbledonsprinter....A very efficient use of time
Looks good. I have just bought my ticket for the Thursday and Friday. Last year was a very efficient use of time.
Six more companies have signed up this week so we are heading towards the maximum number we can take.....On the Thursday we are nearly full so any companies signing up will need to be quick to guarantee a prime slot for one of their presentations and all the delegates will have at least five options for speakers, panel sessions and companies presenting every 40 minutes......a true investorfest.
Just a mention that any readers who would like to attend Mello2019 there is a 40% discount to ticket prices if you enter the following code in the box when ordering....Stocko40
David
Just to keep you all posted....new companies signed up this week.....Panopoly, ECSC, Expedeon, SDI, Mirada, NMR, Boku and Hardide. We also have 16 in the pipeline so expect to announce at least 50% of those at some point next week. We are going to have a record number of companies at Mello2019
http://melloevents.com
Really looking forward to this, as thoroughly enjoyed all the ones last year. Saw some wonderful presentations, a number from companies I previously would never have looked at. Do hope RA International (LON:RAI) will return again, thoroughly enjoyed November's presentation and would love to learn more about the company, particularly in relation to the tendering process and associated timescales.
Just to mention that the early bird discount period ends shortly. Additionally if any of you have companies that you are keen on and would like them to do a presentation then do mention Mello and ask them to get in touch or let us know and provide contact info for the directors. We will have 60 quality companies coming to Mello2019 which is by far the largest event of its kind for investors to meet listed companies...
For those of you keen to know which of your companies are coming to Mello2019 or ones that you may be interested in researching then the website will keep you posted and we update it every few days...
http://melloevents.com/event/event-exhibitors/
Lots of companies are attending #Mello2019 for the very first time.....Manolete, Rosenblatt, Crossword Cyber Security, Sosandar, Marshall Motors, Science in Sport, Tarsus, CPP Group, President Energy, Eagle Eye Solutions & Ultimate Products to name just a few and you will be able to read more about it and buy tickets here http://melloevents.com/event/
We aim to have almost 60 companies across the two days with by far the majority having very good Stockranks.
Thanks David
I'm in, and happy to host a room or whatever you may need to help the event along. Mello rocks!
