Sosandar - SOS - general discussion
Hi, it's Paul here.
I'm just trialling an idea, to see if subscribers take to it. Instead of discussion all getting sucked into the SCVRs, I thought let's have some general discussion threads for individual companies, so that we can share news & views any time.
Please feel free to post anything about Sosandar (LON:SOS) in the comments to this thread.
Rational bull & bear views welcomed. Please keep it civil (that's a message to self as much as anyone else!) ;-)
I'm fed up with the poor quality of nonsense on free bulletin boards elsewhere, so hope we can have a more constructive discussion here instead.

On the analyst call this morning the FD did say they were trading cashflow profitably already (excluding ramp up of inventory)
Given H2 is usually heavily weighted I'd be surprised given todays update if revenues don't come in at £27m+ (rather than £24m). That should get them to b/e.
Doubt they will need another raise from here unless a material opportunity presents itself
What happened to sos TODAY ( DOWN a lot)
It been up and down a fair amount recently, typical small cap really.
You could argue that its making a volatility contraction pattern here. Or just ignore that and hold on through the day to day. You just have to decide what timescales you are trading/investing on
Yes I did notice the VCP, I'm holding on.
One measure of a stock being overbought is the gap being it's share price & it's 200 day moving average.
If you rank UK Listed stocks in this way, Sosandar (LON:SOS) appears in the Top 20, with a share price currently 55% above it's 200 day moving average.
Basically the stock is currently taking a breather.
but doesn't that just tell you a share is on the up and moved significantly recently ?
Just an idle thought. I wonder if the recent share price rise is partly due to investors fleeing the troubles at BooHoo ? I see that Quiz has enjoyed a similar rise.
I hold, good sized position. I agree all the metrics look great, but my only concern is if the last quarter results have a degree of “ bust out of lockdown” purchase going on. I think the next quarters results are going to be really key as they will hopefully show my concerns are unfounded and continuing sales growth off the three large platforms they are now on.
I've been bearish on Sosandar (LON:SOS) for a long time but the last RNS to me showed a real change in direction, with all metrics improving sharply and consistently. As a business, it was always going to need new capital to get off the ground, but I feel an inflection point has now been reached where the benefits are going to start accruing to shareholders. So I've taken a starter position and am interested to see how this plays out. It is starting from a small base, so there is no reason why the sort of momentum that leads to month on month sales increasing cannot continue for a long time.
£sos is my largest position and doing me very well, but some would say my portfolio is unbalanced, so high risk.
Whilst I’m an investor, not a trader, I did find Minervini’s first book interesting. I recall him describing having a focused portfolio of high conviction holdings.
£sos has a very high momentum score and I guess one of (my many!) weak areas is reading charts regarding the different stages a stock goes through.
Any chartists out there with thoughts about what the £sos chart is telling them?
Would like to suggest blogs like these be part of the stock page like times has discussion posts on each individual article. Otherwise, it is a pain trying to find these potentially hidden treasure of discussions.
Hi prem14, you can find all discussions which have the company's ticker tag by looking on the stock report. On a computer, it's on the top banner. On a phone, you click the drop down menu that says StockReport.
There have been occasions when a glitch has dropped the ticker tag off a comment and so it wouldn't appear, but they're on to fixing it.
How do I find a list of all companies for which there is a general discussion page? I value the opinions (not recommendations) of my fellow subscribers.
Have a look here: https://www.stockopedia.com/content/individual-stock-threads-index-849264/
Paul,
Thanks for setting this up. I hope the idea flourishes. In addition to high quality comment, one other thing this does is let us group our responses to influence company actions.
After the last trading update, I wrote to the Sosandar's PR /investor contact people (at sosandar@almapr.co.uk) to ask them to put the slides on the investor site as a separate .pdf file ie as an analyst pack. This way they can be looked at separately to trawling through the whole video each time. There was really great insight on re-order levels/progression over the year etc
They promised to do so (but have not yet). Some likes or comments for this note would really gee them up to act if passed back to them. I am sure other such actions could follow.
Whether you like it or not you/Stockopedia are in a position to lead some really great pro- PI stuff. I would be fascinated to hear what share of active PI's Stockpopedia holds!
My guess market share is significant and that share is even higher in the more influencial part of the PI market.
Just watched the results presentation and decided to buy a position. I am very impressed. I think this a massively scaleable business in relatively untapped market. I liked the management and they ticked all the ethical boxes. They seem to care a great deal about their staff, which says a lot to me about the quality of a company. They also work with Clipper logistics, which I also rate very highly They have very sticky repeat customers here with 70% of customers being repeat customers, plus a high sales conversion rate from their marketing satrategies. Last but not least, My Mrs. likes their clothes. Great and exciting prospects!
I highly recommend watching the PIworld presentation kindly posted again by Paul.
And stunning photography (the first point of contact) - the fashion mag background of the joint CEO's shows.
Can anybody help out a newbie? How come it is loss making for 5 years, but has net cash? I like the company and the outlook sounds positive enough, but i'm struggling to understand the numbers on here.
If you look at Accounts -> Balance Sheets -> Total Shares Outstanding it looks like there's been a few fundraises since 2016
Take a look at the increase in the number of shares issued by the company over the period. Issuing new shares raises cash. This cash will cover losses while they hopefully build a business capable of making a profit.
Gus.
yes indeed but since the FD changed they seem to be very much more focused on preserving cash, and thus far seem to have managed to keep the cash burn down, hopefully we won't need another cash raising, although this might mean slower growth in the near term, it might mean significantly less dilution, and it seems the market is getting less willing to give money to loss making companies without big discounts.
Hopefully next time we will hear they are trading profitably and the profits can finance accelerating growth
k
yep that ole' classic from the sixties...organic growth! takes longer but like an oak forest hopefully it won't uproot itself
Sosandar (LON:SOS) is now my largest holiday after the recent RNS stating how well sales were growing on the major shopping platforms M&S, Next and John Lewis.
I took my first position in Dec 2019 @28p and watched it fall all the way down to 4p during the pandemic crash in March 2019. I had managed to average down to 18p, but wasn't brave enough to buy anywhere near any of the low points.
I've held through thick and thin. Some would call me a rabbit. However, I strongly believe in the usp Sosandar presents, with providing quality clothing to an older market and unless something untoward happens, I plan on sticking to my guns and holding on for years to come.
Current SP 34.5p, momentum rank 98, value rank 11, quality rank 60
correction: momentum 94. Stock rank 55 (the highest its been so far)
Good idea Paul. I don’t hold…but it’s only a matter of time/spare change!
