Village Square - April 2023
With Markets closed for Good Friday (7/4/23) we have opened the Village Square for April a day early and welcome you all to attend.
You can't have too many eggs in one basket so why not share with your fellow investors one golden egg that we can go off and research.
If you wish to refresh yourself with the rules and the objectives of this piece please read them here. Though I will quickly remind you that Chris and I don't comment onany stock discussed, not do we track their performance.
If you wish to read through the past editions of the Village Square, then go into the "Discuss" section on the left hand side and select "Market Insights" under the Aus/NZ blogs. Scroll down the list to find the previous one (which was on March 4)
As always I will kick off discussion in the comments section below to give you any idea of what to send through. Please don't over think your suggestion or don't have preconceptions that each stock needs to resemble a CSL in stature. (for example my suggestion is definitely no BHP). Big, small, green, red... we accept all ideas.
What you write needn't be biblical in length. A simple explanation in your style will be enough. There is no Pontius Pilot passing judgement here. We simply want to create an environment where sharing is caring with some ideas to pursue during the quiet times this long weekend (and beyond).
Remember... What makes this exercise invaluable is your contribution so feel free to participate.
Enjoy the Village Square and Happy Easter to all!

Alliance Aviation Services (ASX:AQZ)
I have this company in my watchlist. Waiting for it to make a clear break above the range it's been in since Jan this year (ideally above 3.65 )and holds. Stock rank of 80. Qualityrank (88), Momentum rank increasing incrementally over the month to 68. Positive ranking by analysts as at 3 months ago
VEEM (ASX:VEE) Got knocked round during COVID and with the increasing defence spending coming up in the Budget, they should be a beneficiary of this.
Could you have a look at TPC Consolidated (ASX:TPC)
TPC Consolidated (ASX:TPC). It looks too good to be true, I looked at this a few weeks ago and again now. The stock is very tightly held with 75% belonging. to the Top 20 shareholders, furthermore there is only 11mil shares on issue. Thetrading history is scary, there are days with less than 100 shares changing hands. Add to this there announcement to buy back 1 Mill shares (about 9% off issued capital), it is virtually a private company.
There are a measly 300 share for sale.
It will be hard getting in and I suspect harder to get out.
Cooper Energy ( COE) may have hit its bottom , as they say markets can handle good news and bad news but not uncertainty. It may need a government change , a new buyer or something unexpected under the ground. The price is pretty good with high return possible. I will be adding to my position. On the bigger end of town SHL passess the current macro play as well the margin of safety criteria. When I sell my GSK (LON) I will add on SHL.
Dreadnought Resources (ASX:DRE) is a multi commodity focused explorer (Gold, Copper, Rare Earths amongst others) who have suffered under the recent micro cap correction. With real assets under the ground as identified by recent drilling at Yin and Mangaroon, there is potential to realise value in multiple ways.
The price pullback provides an opportunity to consider this explorer who has quite a bit of newsflow coming in the months ahead. Though DRE is very high risk and looks terrible on any Stockopedia metric you look at. The company (as all explorers) can be subject to hyperbole, so try to stick with the facts and don't get carried away by the fairy tale ending. If you hold these stocks for the long term it's important to remember, your first investment will never be your last as they will eventually have to raise capital. I hold for now.
