I look for UK-listed companies, preferably domiciled in the UK that have an understandable (to me) business that are forecast to grow revenue, profits, earnings and dividends over the next year or more. They must be already profitable and carry at most only moderate debt and be reasonably priced for the growth that they have provided and are forecast to provide. Ideally they will provide a niche offering.
I avoid Chinese, Indian, Israeli, etc. companies, loss-making enterprises, blue-sky dreamers and will only very rarely invest in non-dividend paying companies.
