Investment strategy

I lost lots on advisory cfd trading and a couple of bad investments have made me more safety conscious. Have dabbled in investment trusts (quite successful) and small cap stocks ( hit and miss) am into oil & gas explorers at the moment but am aware that i am over exposed in these and am looking for replacements by this time next year.Have got at least 10 years to make some money and leave some for the kids.
