Investor, writer, analyst.
I’ve been an investment writer since 2012 and am IMC qualified.
Before getting involved in the markets, my background was in telecoms and IT. I first learned about the anatomy of a tech boom when I was working for a large telecoms equipment supplier. My lessons then took a different turn when I witnessed the 2001 telecoms crash from the inside, learning at first hand the consequences of leveraged acquisitions and inadequate cost control.
After this formative experience, I moved on to work in technical roles in IT. I then became self-employed in 2006 and launched a small internet business, while also taking a brief side-track into the UK's antiques market.
By the time of the 2008 financial crisis I had become deeply interested in the stock market and have remained so ever since. I started using Stockopedia back in 2013 and have been a regular contributor since 2015.
I specialise in income investing and UK-listed company analysis. I take a numbers-led approach to stock analysis and screening and have an interest in systematic investing.
I run two personal investment portfolios. One is a mirror of the SIF portfolio I run here at Stockopedia. This uses a screen to select stocks exhibiting affordable growth, attractive income and positive momentum, with relatively short holding periods.
My other personal portfolio follows a long-term income strategy, aiming to build a collection of high-quality stocks with the potential to deliver a reliable, rising income over many years.
