Jack's Story

I live in Switzerland and have been investing in France and Swiss equities for over 15 years. My approach has been based largely based on a Jim Slater approach, using my two online brokers’ own analysis tools to give me sales and earnings growth, P/E, cash-flow etc. I was limited to France and Switzerland as I have a broker account in each and their tools are limited to their own countries.

Since starting with Stockopedia over two years ago, my approach has become much more systematic as all the ratios I would have liked to have previously are now available to me.

I now invest across all European markets which has given me a substantially larger pool of companies to look at. My investments are now in companies in Holland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain...

I have overperformed my index of European stocks in all but one of the 16 years I have been investing, averaging a return of 16%. In the past two years this has increased to 28% (2016) and 40% (2017). I am absolutely delighted to have found Stockopedia, and only regret that as I am not based in UK because I have less opportunity to come and meet the team at some of the events which they attend. In fact, since using Stockopedia, I have now taken the leap to leave my previous role (CEO of an international group) and go full time in professional investing - a decision I have certainly not regretted to date.
