Yes, definitely. It inspires greater confidence in the decisions I am able to make.

What's your advice for investors that are just starting out?

  1. Subscribe to Stockopedia
  2. Use it to create a Watchlist of at least 20 companies, and do not spend a pound until your watchlist is out performing the FTSE All Share index consistently.
  3. Choose a well-established broker for your trading platform. Avoid the cheapest.
  4. Cut your losses and run your winners. If possible, buy stocks with a Stockopedia StockRanks of over 90 - at least until confidence as an investor becomes established.
  5. Keep away from highly geared companies. If a company can’t manage its own monies it’s certainly not having any of mine. Keep away from pension deficits.
  6. Make your own rules and stick to them.
