UK Stocks-Factors to watch on October 2

Oct 2 - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Thursday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.31%.

   * BP: New BP BP.L Chair Albert Manifold told employees that the group's portfolio was "overly complex" and it needed to execute its strategy of shifting focus back to oil and gas faster, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

* APPLE: The British government has issued a new order to Apple AAPL.O to create a backdoor into its cloud storage service, this time targeting only British users' data, the Financial Times reported.

* 3I GROUP: 3i Group III.L is considering divesting its assets, including French information technology maintenance provider Evernex, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

* SHAWBROOK: British lender Shawbrook is preparing to kick off its initial public offering within days, the Financial Times reported.

* OIL: Oil prices rose on prospects of tighter sanctions on Russian crude, though expectations of an OPEC+ output boost next month capped gains.

* METALS: Copper prices climbed on the London Metal Exchange, buoyed by supply concerns in Chile and Indonesia, while a weaker dollar provided additional support.

* GOLD: Gold prices held steady, hovering near the record high hit the day before, helped by expectations of further U.S. rate cuts and political uncertainty.
