STOXX SHOOTING FOR WEEKLY GAIN
Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX is up 0.5% on the day so far - that is just big enough a rise to put the index on track for a weekly gain after two consecutive weeks of losses.
It will be a close call though, and there may be some spillover into European markets from any potential reaction to Federal Reserve chairman Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech later in the session.
Other major European indices are also in the green: the FTSE .FTSE is up 0.3%, the CAC .FCHI is 1.1% higher, and the DAX .GDAXI is 0.6% higher.
Among sectors, luxury names .STXLUXP are 1.8% higher and automobiles and parts stocks .SXAP are up 1.3%. Media .SXMP and retail .SXRP stocks are both down around 0.3%.
In single stock moves, Belgium's Ackermans & Van Haaren ACKB.BR is up 8.3% after reporting first half results and upgrading its net profit growth outlook.
