SOFT START ON BUSY EARNINGS DAY
Major European share indexes are again edging slightly lower, with investors not willing to add to risk while efforts to end the Iran war are at a deadlock and the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively shut to traffic.
The STOXX 600 .STOXX is down about 0.3%, with the number of declining stocks outnumbering advancing stocks by about two to one.
It's been a morning chock-full of earnings, with Adidas ADSGn.DE one of the top gainers in Europe following its results. The sportswear manufacturer, fresh off its London Marathon PR boost, reported better-than-expected first-quarter profit.
Tech shares .SX8P are the top gainers, up 0.9% after a hefty 1.8% drop the day before on concerns about AI growth prospects. Retail .SXRP, insurers .SXIP and utilities .SX6P are the biggest laggards.
