SELLOFF SPREADS TO EUROPE: 94% OF THE STOXX DOWN
European shares opened sharply lower on Monday, joining a broad‑based global selloff of risky assets, as the spike in crude prices fuelled concerns about an inflation shock that could slow economic and corporate profit growth in the energy‑importing region.
Here are some highlights from early trading:
94% of STOXX 600 constituents trading in the red
STOXX hits more than 2‑month lows, down over 2%
All sectors lower, led by Basic Resources, Industrial Goods, Construction, Banks and Tech — all down over 3%
Oil & gas outperforms, down 0.2%, with Equinor, Aker, Shell, Galp among the few stocks trading in the black
