** Shares of American West Metals  AW1.AX  soar as much as
25% to A$0.150, post their best intraday gain since debut on
Dec. 13
    ** Co intersected thick intervals of visual copper
mineralization from second diamond drill hole completed at its
West Desert Project in Utah  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nASX9GMZRZ
    ** Adds massive copper sulphides along with strong zinc and
molybdenite intervals have been visually logged in the drill
hole, assays are pending
    ** Shares hit their highest since Feb. 15
    ** About 2 mln shares trade hands, 9.7 times the 30-day
average of 205,595 shares
    ** As of last close, stock down 4% this year
