May shipments of foreign-branded phones in China fall 19.2% Y/Y, CAICT data says BEIJING, June 24 (Reuters) - Shipments of foreign-branded mobile phones in China, including those from Apple Inc AAPL.O, decreased in May by 19.2% from a year earlier, according to Reuters calculations based on data released by a government-affiliated research company on Wednesday.
Shipments of foreign branded phones including Apple iphones were down to 3.669 million handsets for the month, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) showed.
Overall phone shipments in China last month were up 16.5% year-on-year to 27.64 million units, the data showed.
