The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes edged higher in choppy trading on Thursday,
lifted by Tesla and a clutch of economic data that eased some worries about a
deep recession ahead of a key inflation reading. .N 
    At 1335 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.22% at
33,817.22. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.52% at 4,037.05 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.94% at 11,419.761.
