The Dow and the S&P 500 rose on Tuesday after more upbeat earnings reports from
some of the country's top lenders including Morgan Stanley and Bank of America
boosted the banking index to its highest since a crisis rattled the sector
earlier this year.  .N 
    
    At 11:34 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 1.02% at
34,939.64. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.30% at 4,536.37 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was down 0.16% at 14,222.553.
