U.S. stock indexes fell on Wednesday as a deal to raise the nation's debt
ceiling headed for a pivotal vote by lawmakers, while unexpectedly strong labor
market data reinforced bets of another interest rate hike by the Federal
Reserve.  .N

32,779.24. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.79% at 4,172.2 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was down 0.76% at 12,918.427.
