BioMarin climbs on global patent settlement with Ascendis

** Shares of drugmaker BioMarin Pharmaceutical BMRN.O rise 5.9% to $68.48 premarket
** BioMarin and Ascendis Pharma ASND.O settle all patent disputes related to Ascendis' growth disorder drug Yuviwel
** Ascendis to pay BioMarin a 20% royalty on U.S. Yuviwel sales, starting from the drug's first commercial sale
** Ascendis also agrees to pay BioMarin an 18% royalty on Yuviwel sales in the EU, Brazil and South Korea until May 2030
** Yuviwel is Ascendis' once-weekly injectable treatment for children aged 2 years and older with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, and it received U.S. FDA accelerated approval on Feb
** The legal dispute began in 2025 when BioMarin filed an ITC complaint alleging that Ascendis' drug infringes its patents
** As of last close, BMRN up 8.8% YTD
