UK events firm Informa offers to buy rival Ascential for $1.6 billion

July 24 (Reuters) - Events organiser Informa INF.L said on Wednesday it has offered to buy Cannes Lions Festival owner Ascential ASCL.L for about 1.2 billion pounds ($1.6 billion), as it looks to add the prominent advertising industry conference to its portfolio.
