Aterian shares extend rally in strong volumes

** Shares of Aterian Inc ATER.O rise 11% to $3.79 on
strong volumes, continuing to rally for a second day
** About 42.5 mln ATER shares were traded by 10:17 am ET,
the third most actively traded U.S. stock
** ATER options are trading ~20x their usual volumes,
according to Trade Alert data, with a put-call ratio of 0.23,
per Refinitiv eikon
** An increase in traded call options signals that a rising
number of investors are betting on the stock price to move
higher
** ATER is among the top 10 most discussed tickers on
investor-focused social media stocktwits.com, indicating
interest from retail punters
** Nearly 35% of stock's free float is in short position, up
from 24% a week ago, according to data from analytics firm Ortex
** ATER surged 47% on Monday on no apparent news, cutting
YTD losses to ~17%
