ECONOMY
Italy's government plans to cut its 2024 economic growth
forecast, people familiar with the matter said, as it weighs the
negative impact of rising interest rates and difficulties in
spending EU post-COVID recovery funds.
Italy is likely to confirm its budget deficit targets for
this year and next, people familiar with the matter said, as the
Treasury aims for tighter fiscal policy to limit the impact of
rising euro zone interest rates.
Bank loans to companies in Italy declined sharply between
November and February as demand weakened and interest rates

Swiss duty-free retailer Dufry's takeover bid on the Italian
caterer will start on April 14 to end on May 15 after a green
light from Italy's watchdog CONSOB.

The Italian energy group, a unit of France's EDF, has
started a process to sell its natural gas storage business, with
an aim to raise between 600-800 million euros, daily Il
Messaggero said on Saturday. The group has picked Credit
Agricole as its advisor and an auction is expected to be
launched soon, the report said, adding Italian gas grid operator
Snam could be interested in the deal.
