The following factors could affect Italian markets on Monday.

    POLITICS
    The Italian government has rejected a request from a ship
run by Doctors Without Borders non-governmental organisation
(NGO) to assign a safe port closer to the place where it rescued
73 migrants, an NGO official said on Sunday.
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases November unemployment rate data (0900 GMT).
    OECD releases December composite leading indicator data
(1100 GMT).
    Bank of Italy releases December data on Target 2 liabilities
and European Central Bank funding to Italian banks.
    DEBT
    Treasury announces sale of BTP bonds, with relative amounts
to be auctioned on Jan. 12.
    COMPANIES
    MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA  BMPS.MI 
    In Italy there is room for more than one big banking group,
MPS Chief executive told Il Sole 24 Ore on Saturday, adding that
the consolidation process in the country would necessarily have
to involve the Tuscan lender, which is a pivot in the sector.   
    BANCO BPM  BAMI.MI 
    The bank CEO Giuseppe Castagna told Italian daily La Stampa
that 'prudence' was needed by the European Central Bank in
tightening its monetary policy. Castagna reiterated his call for
a payment holiday on mortgages and loans for households and
small businesses in Italy. 
    TELECOM ITALIA  TLIT.MI 
    Infrastructure fund Macquarie, which is a partner of Cassa
Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) in Open Fibre, is in favour of the
government's plan to create a national single broadband network
and is working on the project with interested parties, 
Macquarie's Head of Asset Management Italy Gianluca Ricci told
Milano Finanza on Saturday.
    MAIRE TECNIMONT  MTCM.MI  
    Italy's Maire Tecnimont said on Sunday it had started an
engineering, procurement and construction contract worth $1.3
billion awarded by a joint venture between QatarEnergy and
Chevron Phillips Chemical.
    CNH INDUSTRIAL  CNHI.MI 
    Members of two local unions that have been on strike since
May at CNH Industrial factories in Wisconsin and Iowa on
Saturday voted down a tentative labor contract, the United Auto
Workers union said. 
    AUTOGRILL  AGL.MI 
    All the required regulatory approvals in relation to the
proposed merger between Dufry and Autogrill have been obtained
without conditions, Dufry said in a statement.
    Dufry and Edizione expect to close the transfer of
Edizione's entire stake of 50.3% in Autogrill to Dufry at the
beginning of February.
    IREN  IREE.MI 
    The utility aims sell a minority stake in its gas
distribution business, Milano Finanza reported over the weekend,
adding the division could have an enterprise value of around
700-800 million euros.
    EDISON  EDNn.MI 
    EDF's subsidiary could decide to sell its gas storage
business, Milano Finanza said over the weekend. 
    SNAM  SRG.MI 
    The gas network operator could consider selling a stake in
its STOGI unit that manages gas storage, Milano Finanza reported
on Saturday.

    Board meeting on preliminary FY results (revenues).
    THE LIFESTYLE GROUP  TLSGR.MI 
    Starts reverse stock split.
    DIARY
    Rome, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni meets EU Commmission
President Ursula von der Leyen at a book presentation on former
European President David Sassoli.
    Rome, Chamber of Deputies meets to discuss law decree on
urgent support measures in the energy sector and public finance
(1400 GMT).
