POLITICS
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will travel to Washington on Monday for meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and other European leaders to try to resolve the war in Ukraine, following Trump's meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15.
COMPANIES
MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI, MONTE DEI PASCHI BMPS.MI
The take-up in Tuscan lender Monte dei Paschi di Siena's bid for merchant bank Mediobanca reached 13.2% as of Aug. 14, data regarding the ongoing offer showed on Thursday.
MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI, BANCA GENERALI BGN.MI
Norway's sovereign fund Norges Bank, which holds a 1.45% stake in Mediobanca, and other institutional investors including CalPERS, Florida State Board of Administration, CalSTRS and New York City Comptroller, said on their websites they would vote in favour of the merchant bank's bid for Banca Generali at a shareholder meeting on August 21.
* The European Central Bank is expected to give its go-ahead to the Mediobanca bid as early as Monday, according to several Italian newspapers.

German market regulator BaFin releases results of the first phase of the Italian media company's takeover offer for German broadcaster ProSieBenSat.1.
