COMPANIES MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI, MPS BMPS.MI, BANCA GENERALI BGN.MI Shareholders of the merchant bank on Thursday rejected a plan to buy Banca Generali, dealing a blow to its attempts to thwart a hostile takeover by Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS). Mediobanca had pitched the Banca Generali plan, which would have created Italy's second-largest wealth manager, as an alternative to the MPS transaction. (*) MPS BMPS.MI, BANCO BPM BAMI.MI The Italian Economy Ministry, which owns 11.7% of the Tuscan lender, will remain shareholder even after a potential MPS's merger with Mediobanca, Italian daily Milano Finanza reported on Friday. LOTTOMATICA LTMC.MI The betting company is on course to join the Italian blue-chip stock index FTSE Mib .FTMIB next month, traders said on Thursday, replacing medical diagnostics group Diasorin DIAS.MI or tyre maker Pirelli PIRC.MI. (*) JUVENTUS JUVE.MI Nottingham Forest have signed Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from the Italian football club on an initial season-long loan with a conditional obligation to make it a permanent deal next summer, the Premier League club said.
