Mediobanca posts record results, mulls early shareholder vote on Banca Generali bid

MILAN, July 31 (Reuters) - Italy's Mediobanca MDBI.MI on Thursday reported record annual results and said it is considering bringing forward a shareholder vote on its bid for private bank Banca Generali BGN.MI by one month. Mediobanca said in April it planned to acquire Banca Generali from Italy's top insurer Generali GASI.MI to fend off an unsolicited offer from smaller rival Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena BMPS.MI.
