Spain prices €4 billion 20-year green bond after high demand (updated)
UPDATE 2-Spain prices €4 billion 20-year green bond after high demand Adds pricing and final demand in paragraphs 1-3
MADRID, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Spain priced a €4 billion ($4.65 billion) 20-year green bond on Tuesday after attracting final demand of €68.5 billion in the syndicated offering, which the Treasury said underscored strong investor appetite for its sovereign debt.
The bond was priced at a yield of 4.268% and will carry a 4.25% coupon.
Total demand had exceeded €82 billion at peak books before the transaction was priced.
The spread was set at 7 basis points over Spain's 3.45% July 2043 bond, tightened from initial guidance of around 10 basis points over the same benchmark.
The Treasury said the order book saw strong participation from central banks, international organisations, insurers and pension funds and demonstrated investor confidence in the Spanish economy.
The bond, due in July 2047, is being issued under Spain's green bond programme, which finances environmentally sustainable expenditure.
Barclays, BBVA, Credit Agricole CIB, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Santander were the lead managers.
