    ** Company says drilling results at Alice River gold project
in North Queensland provide "compelling" indications PGO has
intersected top of a large, high-grade gold system that is 100m
below surface
    ** Stocks posts biggest-ever intraday pct gain
    ** About 2.5 mln shares change hands, vs 30-day avg of
~100,000
    ** As of last close, company's shares down ~9.3% this year
