Freeport LNG starts Train 2 production at Texas export plant

Dec 6 (Reuters) - The second liquefaction train at Freeport
LNG's liquefied natural gas export plant in Texas started to
produce the super-cooled fuel, according a release on Friday
from the companies building the facility:
* Those companies - units of McDermott International Inc
MDR.N , Chiyoda Corp 6366.T and Zachry Group - said producing
LNG is a precursor to sending out the first cargo from Train 2.

* The construction firms said Freeport Trains 2 and 3 remain
on schedule with Train 3 expected to produce first LNG in the
first quarter of 2020.
* Freeport has said Trains 2 and 3 are expected to enter

* When Freeport started building the first three trains at
the $13 billion facility, it projected the units would enter
service between the fourth quarter of 2018 and the fourth
quarter of 2019.
* Train 1 entered service this year and shipped its first

* Each train at Freeport will have the capacity to produce
about 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG or around 0.7
billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of natural gas. One billion
cubic feet is enough gas to supply about 5 million U.S. homes
for a day.
* In addition to the three trains, Freeport has said it is
on track to make a final investment decision to build a fourth
train at the plant in the first quarter of 2020. The company has

* Freeport selected engineering firm KBR Inc KBR.N as the
preferred bidder to build Train 4.
* Freeport has said it has agreements to sell LNG to units
of Osaka Gas Co Ltd 9532.T , JERA, BP Plc BP.L , Total SA

* JERA is an alliance between Tokyo Electric Power Co
Holdings Inc 9501.T and Chubu Electric Power Co Inc 9502.T .
* In addition, Freeport has said it is working on a 20-year
deal to sell 2.2 MTPA of LNG to a unit of Japanese trading firm
Sumitomo Corp 8053.T from Train 4.
